I have people asking me about MM fondant. I use this on cakes, because it does taste so much better than store bought fondant, and it is a thick fondant (kinda hard to roll it thin!) which is good, less chance of breaking through to the cake! The recipe is really easy! All you need is mini-marshmallows, water, and confectioners sugar.
Put the MM in a microwaveable bowl, put in 2-3 Tbs of water. Microwave until you see it start to melt. Pull it out and stir. If need be, put back in until it is completely melted. Add confectioner’s sugar a little at a time (If you add it in all at once, it can get messy) It should be getting harder and harder to stir. At that point, you can turn it out on to the counter, and knead like you would dough. I usually add enough sugar so it is no longer sticky (about 3/4 of the bag)
Voila! you’ve made MM fondant. It is from this point where I would start dying it with the Wilton’s gel dye.
Hint, if you need to dye it black, mix some cocoa powder in first, this way you’re going from brown to black, and not from white to black…this trick makes like sooooo much easier!
